Description

The Kimblewick - A kimblewick is quite literally a D-ring with a short straight purchase at the top of the D. But uniquely functions as both a direct action and leverage bit using a curb strap. If the rein is attached to the top hook, it works as a direct action bit, exerting the same amount of pressure on the mouth as on the reins. If the rein is attached to the bottom hook, it works like a leverage bit, tilting the mouthpiece forward and applying pressure to the parts of the mouth curb and poll. The Mullen Mouthpiece - The Straight bar is a very mild mouthpiece; it is an unvarying mouthpiece, which means the pressure on the mouth doesn't change very much, as it is a fixed mouthpiece. The bit puts pressure on the tongue and lips (corner of the mouth), it does use slight pressure on the bars depending on the size of your horses tongue. This bit is very useful for those horses who have a very soft mouth and don銗988 like complicated mouthpieces, it may also be useful for horses who back off the contact and need that extra bit of confidence in the bit.

Size guide

The size of the mouth is a major parameter in the choice of the bit.

A bit at the right size contributes to the comfort of the horse.

The wrong size could hurt him.

Once the bit is in the mouth, there should be a few millimetres between the corner of the lips and the ring to avoid injury.
Indicative measurement.
