Horseware Rambo Micklem Deluxe Competition bridle
HORSEWARE
Ref : 422002
Description
The Horseware Micklem 2 bridle range is designed from the inside out while considering the horse’s anatomy to eliminate the 5 main areas of bridle discomfort. The new, more stylish design uses a softer eco-leather with a selection of different components available to create the perfect fit for every type of horse and rider.
Developed over 24 years by BHS Fellow, international coach, author, and renowned horseman William Micklem. The Horseware Micklem range is the best-selling ergonomic bridle in the world having changed lives for both horse and rider. It is designed to relieve pressure on nerves making it more comfortable, more humane and overall enabling horses to perform better.
Benefits of using a Micklem Bridle :
- Removes discomfort and pain under the tongue caused by pressure.
- Reduces any discomfort or restriction of breathing caused by low fitting dropped nosebands.
- Overcomes numbness in the lower half of your horse’s face that can be caused by pressure on nerves.
- Minimises internal mouth damage.
- Eliminates discomfort caused by pressure on the nerve.
Our innovative BitClips are an invaluable tool to remove pressure on the bit. They connect the bit with the side ring of the bridle to keep it steady in the horse's mouth and therefore helps to avoid damage underneath the tongue. We recommend using the bitclips for young horses or riders with an unsteady hand.
Composition
Cowhide leather
Care instructions
Before you use a new leather product for the first time, make sure you oil it thoroughly. Oiling tack makes it supple and prevents it from drying out and cracking or breaking during use. After an initial cleaning, follow regular wash instructions.
Care for your leather regularly with a damp sponge and saddle soap to retain a soft, solid leather. It is essential for leather care and must be used liberally, always before hydrating the leather with a conditioner.
Use warm water to dampen a sponge. Squeeze any excess water out of the sponge before using it. Wipe down all the pieces of the bridle to remove sweat, dirt and grease. Allow the leather to dry naturally before applying saddle soap. This will help to remove any stubborn dirt or grease left over.
Pay particular attention to cleaning areas of your bridle that are typically under pressure during riding and exposed to saliva, such as bit straps, bottom back strap, and reins where they come in contact with bit.
It is recommended that you regularly apply conditioner. Completely dismantle your bridle when applying conditioner and apply with a soft cloth or sponge. Apply the conditioner once you have cleaned your leatherwork with saddle soap.
Maintenance tips
Once clean and dry, reassemble your bridle and loop reins through top back strap for storage.
A climate-controlled environment is best for tack. Dry heat will make leather brittle, while humidity can cause it to mould and mildew.
Storing your bridle in a fleece lined bridle bag will help prevent moisture.

Size guide
The only difference between a pony and a horse is size.
According to the International Equestrian Federation, an equine measuring less than 1.48 meters, not shod, is considered a pony. If it measures more than 1.48 meters, it is classified as a horse.
The pony category is divided into 4 sub-categories based on their height at the withers, not shod.
Category A = height less than 1.07 meters
Category B = height between 1.08 and 1.30 meters
Category C = height between 1.31 and 1.40 meters
Category D = height between 1.41 and 1.48 meters
